Danish Gun Apellations:

Most guns used or in use by the RDN were given a special Danish model specification, which in most cases differ from the original manufacurers name/title.

Uptil January 1, 1952 all guns with a calibre of 10 cm and above were named by its calibre in centimers, while smaller calibre guns were named by its calibre in millimeters. Immediately after the calibre, the guns were given a "K", for "Karduskanoner (Charge Cartidge Gun), "PK" for "Patronkanoner" (Cartidge Gun) or "RK" for "Rekylkanoner" (Recoil Gun). After the calibre are added the legth ("L") of the barrel, and in most cases also the year of introduction ("M) in th RDN (i.e. 12.7 mm PK L/45 M/34).

After January 1, 1952 all guns were typed by its calibre in millimeters, fol-lowed by a "K" for "Kanon" (manual or semi automatic) og "Mk" for "Ma-skinkanon" (machine gun or fully automatic). The calibre is followed by the year of introduction (in RDN) and finally the type of mounting, where "Lv" stands for "luftværnsaffutage" (anti aircraft mounting), "Sa" for "skibs-affutage" (Ships mounting) and "Ka" for "kystaffutage" (coastal battery), alle followed by the model year of the mounting.

When guns are double mounted, a "2" is added to the description, i.e. 76 mm Mk M/60 LvSa2, means a 76 mm Gun (manual or semi automatic) in a double mounting for both ships and anti aircraft purposes.
