11-14-2008:

Frigate building in progress

Building of the new frigates proceeds according to plan. However it seems as if the information procedures at The Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization requires considerable update in order to give the taxpayer proper information during the building period.


09-26-2008:

HAVFRUEN is the name

Third new patrol vessel named in a ceremony at the naval base in Korsør. Thursday September 25, 2008 was the day for the naming of the latest patrol boat in The Royal Danish Navy.


08-18-2008:

Next Stop Malta

ABSALON is heading South on its first Live International Mission. Sunday, August 17, ABSALON left Frederikshavn, heading for Bahrain, where the Navy mid-September will be taking over command of the multinational naval force, Combined Task Force 150.


07-29-2008:

ABSALON to Task Force 150

Royal Danish Navy takes Command in the Fight against Terror and Piracy. At the end of August the staff of the Danish Task Group aboard the ABSALON will be taking over command of the international naval force off the Horn of Africa for the next six months.

 


07-05-2008:

Frigate keel on station

Keel laid for largest Naval Ships in Danish History. Monday, June 2, the Danish Chief of Defence gave the speech at the occasion for laving the keel of the first of the three new frigates for the Royal Danish navy.


04-30-2008:

Delivery of vessels delayed

Delivery of FLYVEFISKEN and HAJEN to Lithuania heavily delayed. It can only be assumed that the delay is mainly due to considerable difficulty in obtaining new diesel engines for the two vessels.


04-14-2008:

Second Mk II received

Danish military accept delivery of the second DIANA-class vessel. On Friday, April 4, the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization accepted delivery of the next Mark II type vessel, the patrol vessel P521.


04-06-2008:

Cutters sent to auction

The four cutters have rendered distinguished service, but now it's almost over. On Wednesday, April 23, four strikes of the hammer at an auction of surplus military equipment will determine the future of four of the Danish Navy's and Naval Home Guard's long-serving cutters.


03-15-2008:

Drones onboard THETIS

Accident reveals use of Surveillance Drones off the Coast of Africa. The operation was strictly against current rules for use of the drone, which crashed, and has now disappeared.


02-20-2008:

KNUD RASMUSSEN commissioned

First new Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessel Commissioned. Monday, February 18 at 1515 hours, the first of the new arctic patrol vessels of the KNUD RASMUSSEN Class was commissioned into the Royal Danish Navy.


01-01-2008:

Google shows mine clearance drones

Laid-up Mine Clearance Drones Revealed by Satellite. Satellite photos from Google Earth reveal the four vessels neatly laid-up at the Danish Navy’s depot.
